"I don't hate my hand when you're holding it," Justin whispered so softly his words were almost lost to the blissful silence than enrobed us. "I don't hate the world when I'm with you. I don't hate my life when you're in it..."
I buried my nose in Justin's soft fragrant hair, holding him tightly and closing my eyes as they stung with tears.
So so beautiful - love how you let them stay in character but nevertheless show us how much Brian loves Justin! Thanks!

Brilliant. This is exactly the kind of sweet one-off I like. Gotta love protective Brian. And even better, a protective Brian who's actually true to the character. Kudos for that.
Author's Response: Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed this story (and my apologies for the delay in getting to your review). I love a protective Brian, too :-) Thanks again for reading and for your wonderful review!

Gut wrenchingly sad but also simply beautiful.
Author's Response: Thanks :-) I always thought that this must have been a very hard time for Justin, and it is always touching to see Brian's responce to his struggles. I'm glad you enjoyed this story. Thanks so much for reading!

A beautiful recreation of the caring, protective side to Brian he showed during the early phases of Season Two. You also filled in the gap of how he managed to make it to Babylon alone. One wonders what happens next after this, but this was a fantastic ending. Brian showing his emotional side is always interesting to analyse, and I was once again pleased to see that he was kept completely in character. That is very important to me. Well done.
Author's Response: Thanks again ;-) This was one of the first B/J stories I ever wrote, and dealt with what I felt was one of the biggest gapfillers that needed to be written. I always wondered what happened after this scene in canon. I can still see it panning out this way. At the beginning of season 2, Brian was a little more open and gentle with Justin that he was in season 1, and that he would be in the remaining series. To me, it was a special time in their relationship - a time when Brian really was protective. I'm thrilled that you enjoyed this story ;-) Thanks so much for reading, and for your lovely review. I appreciate it so much.

Oh, Jesus, that...Pull my heart out! I am so glad that Justin told Brian that he really didn't hate his life. Those last few paragraphs just were pure poetry.
Thank you for sharing this!
Author's Response: Thank you so much! I'm very glad you enjoyed this story :-) I've always thought this scene in season two (where Justin tells everyone he dropped out of art school at Babylon), should have been extended. For a moment, you can tell that Brian really looks helpless, like he wished he knew a some way to help. I'm thrilled that you liked this gapfiller of how the scene might have played out. Thanks again for reading and for your wonderful review. It means a lot ;-)

Such contrast to your other short story on Brian undergoing chemotherapy. Nice to read both being each other's source of strength.
Author's Response: Thanks :-) You know, I've never stopped to think about the parallel between this story and 'To Make the Wounded Whole' - what an interesting observation. I guess it really does go to show that love is a two way street :-) Thanks so much for reading and for your lovely comment. It means so mUch :-)

Just rereading to help me go to sleep and have good dreams... it really doesn't get better than this:
“Brian?” Justin whispered softly after a few moments of silence. He held up his right hand, which was still trembling slightly. “Hold my hand.”
I took his hand gently in mine, running my fingers over it, turning it over in my palm and suddenly realizing how small and delicate it was compared to mine. I brought his hand to my lips and kissed it, making Justin unfurl his fingers and splay them out against my face, holding onto my thumb which rested across his palm. I wove his fingers with my own and brought both our hands down to rest against his chest.
“I don’t hate my hand when you’re holding it,” Justin whispered so softly his words were almost lost to the blissful silence than enrobed us. “I don’t hate the world when I’m with you. I don’t hate my life when you’re in it…”
Justin’s voice trailed away as he drifted peacefully from the conscious world and into sleep. I buried my nose in Justin’s soft fragrant hair, holding him tightly and closing my eyes as they stung with tears. I knew he wouldn’t remember his beautiful words in the morning just as I knew I would never forget them.
I was his pain management.
Author's Response: I hope you did have good dreams in the end ;-) I'm so glad you enjoyed this story. This is one canon scene that I wished they would have extended... but I guess it gives our imaginations something to do *g* Thanks so much for reading and for your wonderful comment. It means a lot and I appreciate it very much.

how did i miss this and miss commenting on it i'll never know but what an amazing stroy. so much agony justin goes through. i feel is sorrow and pain. yet to him all is as right as it can be at that moment as long as brian is there. it was beautiful.
Author's Response: Thanks :-) I'm glad you found this story. I always loved to beginning of season 2, where Brian takes care of Justin after his bashing. I think we get to see a little part of Brian that's normally hidden away. It really shows that Brian does care for Justin, no matter how hard he tries to hide it sometimes... Thanks so much for reading and for your wonderful comment, as always. *hugs*

Sapphire, I can't believe I have never read this story of yours! It was so beautiful! I loved the way Brian "handled" Justin so that he was allowed to deal with his emotions ... and Brian didn't chide him about his being tweeked out. This was great!
Author's Response: Thanks :-) I'm so glad you enjoyed this story! If I could have seen the extension of any scene in canon, it probably would have been this one in 204. I would have really liked to see how Brian reacted to Justin's being at Babylon. This was the way I pictured it. I love the way Brian dealt with Justin in season two as well. Thanks so much for reading and for your wonderful comment. *hugs*
