Ohhh, this was lovely. I've been on yet another QAF hiatus, needing to breathe some less sexually tense air, lol. Actually, the truth is sometimes I get so mad at CowLip and the series ending and loath some of the fic I read that can't seem to get passed it. Then I remember there a a few writers like you who know how to make it all better. This fic is yet more proof of your ability to do that. :)
Author's Response: Aww, thank you! That honestly means a lot :-) I haven't had the chance to do much writing this past year, but it's so encouraging to know that people are still out there reading. I still love the characters and Brian in particular never ceases to inspire me. You and I are of one mind when it comes to how the show ended. It's not only that the ending was sad, but it was totally (IMO) unfounded. It didn't make sense, and it seemed to lack continuity with the rest of the show. The fact that there is so much post-513 reunion fics out there (my own stories included) reflects that, I think. Cowlip just didn't make the ending believable enough. But I guess that is just carrots for the plot bunnies ;-)
Thanks so much for reading and for your lovely comment. It really means a lot :-)

I always do handsprings when I see a story from you Sapph! I loved it ... but it does ... um beg for a continuation I think :)
Author's Response: You can do handsprings? *g* I'm so thrilled that you enjoyed this story ;-) Once I started to look for gapfillers that this quote could work for, I found that there were quite a few of them. I have thought about going back and writing up a few more of them - I really like the premise. Thanks so much for reading, and for your wonderful review. I appreciate it so much :-)

I love that, yes I think you are right about Justin. He would do that perhaps not in 2005 but definitely a lot sooner than most of us.
(I'm a little torn in the carbon business, I recycle/upcycle a lot, take the bus to work got rid of the car in 2009, my apartment is heated with green energy, I prefer hitch hiking than flying domestically, I use shoes and clothes until others start complaining... But I do live on an island so there are some frequent flyer points around...

... more like every other day ;) I'm used to people flying between the the two major towns here in Iceland more than once a week for work and/or pleasure. Those two towns are like a micro model of NYC and Pitts, Reykjavik has more selection of culture, doctors and such where as Akureyri has skiing and people are better there. Bureaucrats in the EU/EFTA fly from most major airports in Europe into Berlin/Brussels and Oslo-Brussels is twice the distance as Pit-NYC. People HAVE apartments in two cities at the same time. Even children travel, My sisters kids fly REY-AK more at least once every two weeks to spend time with their useless father. They are 10 and 8 and have been doing this by them selves for over 2 years. Airline companies need people to live and or work in different states.
That being said, I take to any well written angst/drama like fish to water, but "in reality" for me those two remained together more than apart, they did not have babies and dogs within the first year, but Justin did not stay at a friend of a friends couch for long. And this went down without much hospital stay. I know BORING but what can I say...
Author's Response: LOL ;-) Well, what's life without a little drama, right? *g* I think a lot of us are suckers for angst and hurt/comfort. And I agree about the long-distance relationship thing. Pitts and NYC are not that far apart, and it's not like Brian was strapped for cash. That said, in light of the massive carbon footprint airplanes have, I think Justin did need to move back to Pittsburgh for the sake of the environment... That would be a logical reason for him to get back together with Brian... (There's an AniamlPlant!Justin plot bunny there somewhere, if I think hard enough about it *g*)

Thans for those wonderful thoughts and little stories. So much has been left unspoken over the 5 years.
Author's Response: I'm thrilled that you enjoyed these :-) The great thing about gapfillers is that there *is* so much that was unsaid or was never covered or resolved in the series. It's fun to explore these moments :-) Thanks so much for reading and for your lovely comment. I appreciate it so much *G*

Again, I cried. So much pain. The end of the series is totally without hope, actually. Justin is a young, ambitious, someone will come across ... Brian, a broken heart ... How are we, the creators of the series, it could do? Of course we are a craze, we need further. Thank you very much, you write about it
Author's Response: Thanks :-) Although the end of the series did hold very little hope, I've never believed that post-513 was the end for Brian and Justin. It was the one time in the series where the canon characters seemed totally out-of-character to me. Justin would never let Brian go after fighting so hard for him, and Brian would never just let go of the one person who was able to teach him to love. I just couldn't accept it, and still don't. Why would Justin moving to New York - which is less than a two hour plane ride from Pittsburgh - end everything for them? It just didn't make sense. But yes, as you say - it gives us fanfiction writers something to write about - a change to put it right :-)
Thanks so much for reading and for your wonderful review. I appreciate it so much.

Ahhhh! what a treat!! Now as much as I don't and never believed 513 to be the end I am also patiently waiting for the "big one" :O
The future is a secret in so many ways and since we don't always know, it's good that the future knows.
Author's Response: Thanks E *hugs* I'm so glad you enjoyed these. I didn't believe the end of 513 for a second. First of all, both Brian and Justin reached the 'point of no return' in their relationship about two years before (they could never just revert back to the way they were before they met), and secondly - what was the big deal about Justin moving to New York? You'd think that Justin was being sent to a colony on Mars or something - Pittsburgh and New York are even in the same timer zone, for crying out loud. That *barely* constitutes a long-distance relationship - they could see each other every weekend if they wanted. And had they never heard of Skype? But I digress.
Love that sentiment about the future being a secret :-) So true!
Thanks so much for reading, as always, and for your wonderful review. It means a lot :-)

No no no no not the end, more plrease Emily,I need more because this is amazing darling. Gapfillers are great. I would love more than anything to read a gapfiller for what might have happened after Brian left Michael at the comic store (after they kissed). Where did Brian go next? Your imagination will be awesome at telling us this darling ~ Yvonne xx
Author's Response: Thanks Yvonne :-) I had to end it like this because the prompt specified an 'ambiguous ending' *g*, but I agree that there was no way 513 was the end. I mean, it's not like Justin was being shipped off the Falkland Islands, for goodness sake - he was going to New York, which is even in the same time zone as Pittsburgh. I totally love gapfillers too - doing this reminded me how much I enjoyed writing them. Love your plot bunny idea for the post-comic book scene with Brian and Michael - that WOULD be an interesting scene to look at! Thanks so much for reading, as always, and for your wonderful comments. They mean so much *hugs*

You must add more, especially to the final gapfiller. It would be wonderful to see Brian fighting for his and Justin's love for each other.
I thoroughly enjoyed them~ JP
Author's Response: Thanks JP :-) I'm so thrilled that you enjiyed these gapfillers. Once I started to look for gapfillers that I could use the Robert Frost quote for (the quote was the prompt), I found that there were quite a few scenes it could work for. I have thought about going back and writing up a few more of them - I really like the premise :-) Thanks so much for reading and for your lovely comment - it means so much.

This was so beautiful. I love watching the boys' "reunions", both after the bashing and after the Fiddler fiasco. And I loved it when Brian finally accepted Justin's help when he made him the fucking chicken soup. These tender moments were all made possible because of Justin and Brian's undying love, even if Brian couldn't say it outloud until he almost lost Justin again in the bombing. I want to believe that Justin leaving to go to NYC was not the end, but rather a new beginning for them.
Thanks for posting this story here, I really enjoyed reading it! :)
Author's Response: Thanks :-) I'm thrilled that you enjoyed these ficlets. I think one of my favorite parts in canon even is the beginning of season 2, where Brian is taking care of Justin after his bashing. It's really a side of Brian we never saw before - or really ever got to see since. I love the scene at the end of 202 - one of my favorite canon moments! And of course the mind boggles when we think about what *could* have happened at the end of 308 *g* - that was one scene I wished they'd extended a little bit. In all the little ways, it was so evident that Brian and Justin were madly in love with each other, and for me, the fact that Brian never had to say "I love you" for Justin to know and accept it just added something to their relationship.
There's no way that Justin leaving for New York could be the end, not after everything they'd been through together. And besides - it's not like New York and Pittsburgh are at other ends of the universe - they're even in the same time zone! You're right - it was the beginning of something different for them, rather than the end of everything.
Thanks so much for reading and for your lovely comment. I appreciate it so much :-)

I do so love your writing, my friend; it always invokes a myriad of emotions. Loved this line, BTW:
“Now that is what I’d like to find in my inbox every morning.” LOL!
You have a wonderful way of expressing the love between these two boys. Thank you for sharing your gift with us. This was just as good the second time that I read it.:) *Hugs* ~Kim
Author's Response: Thanks Kim *hugs* I'm so glad you enjoyed this story (again *g*). With Brian and Justin in canon, I always found that it was the little things - the banter, the little gestures of affection - that I found so enduring ;-) Glad you liked the line about the inbox - I couldn't resist! Thanks so much for reading once again and for your lovely comment - it was also just as wonderful to hear from you the second time :-D
