Love how Justin can afford a Jackson Pollock painting without discussing the price. I'm curious what he paid. The girls deserved to be put in their place. Talk about rude!
How sad for Gus, Cole, Sam, and the family of Bobby.

Hershey Park has an amazing old wooden roller coaster. Great ride, This was a sad and happy chapter. Glad the boys all got closure by meeting at the funeral. It was a nice gesture for Gus & Cole to attend. The sales people at the gallery need to learn not to judge a bokk by its cover. Enjoyed this update. Bill
Author's Response: I'd love to check out the Hershey Park roller coaster, I've spent lots of time at Cedar Park. I think the funeral really helped bonding Sam, Cole and Gus's friendship. It so true, besides aren't all artist's a bit bohemian. Thanks ~ Kathleen

I can't help but feel that Brian and Justin can be a help to Sam in dealing with survivors guilt. Lindsay is not thinking of Gus, just herself. Justin's time spent in the art gallery was interesting and it was a good thing the owner showed up and knew who Justin was. You ended this sad chapter on a fun not with a visit to Hershey!
Author's Response: I agree Gus, Cole and Sam need each other to cope with survivors guilt. Lindsay, still can't see how damaging it was for Brian and Justin to ignore their PTSD from Justin's bashing. The gallery manager needs to brush up on recognizing her contemporary artist, especially if their local. They needed a little fun to off set all the grief of the weekend. Later Darling ~ Kathleen

Oh wow! I assume Bobby G or Sam had been killed? Fortunately Cole is smart enough to make Gus reamize they had to leave immediately. And so great you're bringing Leda in this! All caught up now :)

That dream vacation was almost a tragic event for the boys. Gus should have known to go to his father for help but thank goodness for Leda.
Author's Response: Yes, he always knew he could count on his dad's but, when your gripped with fears one doesn't always think rationally. Thankfully, he knows that they'll help him stand up to the lesbians... I love Leda, she's a much better match for Mel... Hugs Hon ~ Kathleen

I am happy to see Melanie 'man up' and consider that she has been wrong and guilty of being unsupportive when her son needs her the most. Right now, the best place for Gus is with Brian and Justin.

The girls will get a shock if they're still expecting handouts from Brian considering that Gus doesn't live there anymore - sucks to be them, especially after their treatment towards Gus.
It's hard letting kids grow up and make their own decisions - good or bad - after a lifetime of making decisions for them but that's what good parenting is about - raising them and hoping you've done a good enough job so they make good choices. Brian and Justin know this - it's about time the girls learnt it.
Author's Response: That's so true, they always used Gus as an excuse for financial gain. I guess it's time for them to make a budget... You'd think it would be Brian that's freaking out about having an adult son, now he'll have to acknowledge he's also grown older... Hugs Hon ~ Kathleen

This started out with Cole supporting Gus and went to Melanie wanting to control Gus. Thank heavens for Ted, now she's seeing things the way she should. Love the dialogue between the others.
Author's Response: It's good to see Gus and Cole happy together. It's too bad that Lindsay and Mel can't just be understanding and supportive of them. Maybe now that Ted's opened Mel's eyes she'll end her snarky attitude, and start to mend fences with Gus... Later Darling ~ Kathleen

Michael is such an ass! Does he dislike Brian in this story?
Author's Response: Well, he's always an ass... But I think it's a case of him just reacting before thinking about what he's saying... Speaking out of both sides of his mouth, not realizing how hypocritical his words are considering Ben and Hunters HIV status... Hugs Hon ~ Kathleen

Love the adult relationship between Gus and his fathers and seeing them being more understanding then the moms. Michael is a hippocrit acting like that but an ass is always an ass and he deserved to be thrown out on it LOL. Thanks for the longer chapters again. Looking forward to the next. Just one question, am I correct in assuming that Brian and Justin are married and monogamous, and that everything before Gus getting sick is Canon? I ask because of the comment Michael said about like father like son and whores around like you. Thanks.
Author's Response: In most of my fics, the boys end up monogamous. Especially in this fic because it's so far in the future. Almost all my fics are written in an alternative universe, although some are tagged could be cannon. I like being able to take them off in different directions, instead of having to stay within the limits of where the show took them... I'm glad you're like my adult version of Gus and how his father and him interact. Mikey as always, stills see's Brian as the promiscuous stud that he once was, usual vacillating between worshiping his endeavors and condoning his behavior. Hypocrite is right! As they have no respect for their son, I think calling them Lindz and Melz would be in order. Would they make sure he got the medical attention he needed? I think not. It's so nice that Cole's dad and Brian are there for them. Justin is great offering to cook and invite Ben over. I agree about not having Michael there. That would be a bummer. Loving this.
Author's Response: Hopefully they'll wise up and realize that they've shunned their son before it's too late. I can imagine how horrified Gus would be to have his mother's in the examination room. They're dads seem like strange comrades, but they both only want what's best for the boys... Later Darling ~ Kathleen

I'm a little confused. Is he staying at the Loft or Britin? At first you say he is at Britin since he doesn't want to live alone, but in the last paragraph, you say that Justin called the Loft to ask if Ben should come there and cook them dinner.
Author's Response: Sorry about that, he's staying between both places. When Cole spends the night they stay at the loft, enjoying their privacy. But Gus isn't used to spending so much time alone, so he also stays at Britin some nights... Hugs Darling ~ Kathleen

Author's Response: Brian is trying to be the parent he always swished he had growing up, and he's doing a great job. Mel and Lindsay, are acting like total bitches and I'm sure they come to regret their words and actions... I know this is a hard premise to read about, and it's just as hard to write, but for some reason my muse has taken me along this path... Hugs ~ Kathleen

Once again Brian and Justin come through with their unconditional support -they really could teach the munchers a thing or two about supportive parenting but that would probably require a couple of brain and hearts transplants too. I am loving the quick updates, lovely way to end the day:-)
Author's Response: It's funny how over time they're roles in Gus's life have changed, Justin has taught Brian that is he a great father. While Mel and Lindsay, have grown judgemental, and controlling. I think part of that is a knee jerk reaction to Gus growing closer to Brian and Justin. I'm trying to move this fic along quickly, and it's easier to write a few hundred words that the longer chapter in my other stories... Later Darling ~ Kathleen

Author's Response: Thanks, I try and take my fics in new directions, but sometimes it's not that easy... Brian and Justin love Gus, and will always try and be the best fathers they can be... I know, everyone wants longer chapters, the thing is I'm trying to write this in drabbles (very short chapters) because I have so many on-going fics that I need to be spending more time writing... Hi, Kathleen! Playing catchup here, since I've been busy editing another work, and now have mine back from the beta to review before posting.
As always, you do such a good job of describing emotions in just a few relatively short amount of words. I can see the turmoil in Gus, and now how he feels betrayed. I was a little surprised that Justin didn't speak in this chapter (unless I'm mistaken, it all seems to pretty much be a convo between Gus and Lindsay). I'm curiious as to whether or not Brian kept his word and didn't tell even Justin, since he had promised Gus. But on the other hand, I could see where that would pose a real dilemma for him.
Looking forward to the rest of this - and updates to your WIPs (hint, hint)....:) Thanks for posting this on here! ~Kim
Author's Response: I understand the catch-up game they're so many fics I need to get back to reading... Thanks, I do seem to be able to express and condense so many emotions in my drabbles. Like almost all my writing, it just flows onto the screen. I never really rewrite anything, and when I've tried, I also screw it up. I never know where the story is going, or what the next line will be. I'm pretty sure I'm just channeling someone else when I write. Ha! Yes, Brian kept his word, because we all know that Brian always does what he says he'll do, and he never breaks his promises. Justin and Gus have a long talk in the next chapter, it will be posted tomorrow... I really am working on my other fics, I just need to spank my muse into submission... PS I'll always post here on Midnight Whisper. I consider it my home, especially since Livejournal is a ghost town these days. And even though I'm posting on K**************, my fics aren't very well received, accept for the fangirls that also read over here on MW... Oh well, I can't let it get me down, because the truth is I write for myself and my need to express what I'm feeling... PSS Okay one last thing... Do you know that when you read fics posted on MW, in a chrome browser they are often cut off in the middle... Sometimes you can hit the back arrow, and then forward again, the rest of the fic will appear but not always... Hugs My Darling ~ Kathleen
