What a perfect end to this beautiful story. I am lost for words. I’m so glad they kept visiting the young lady in France she was so good to them and became a good and dear friend to them. They lived a great life and I’m so thrilled it was together. May the rest of their days be as wonderful as those that came before 💕💕💕💕💕💕
You should be so proud of yourself with this story x
Author's Response: Of course, I had to give our boys the happily ever after they so richly deserved. And I wanted Aimee to be a part of it because my Amy is in large part responsible for me having a happily ever after. I'm thrilled that you approve of the ending to this story. I hope you will continue to enjoy my stories. Your comments mean a great deal to me. Thank you so much for your kindness. Warmest hugs, Grammy

I could picture it all and it made me smile to see them explore places and enjoy the beauty around them as well as each other. I can feel the sadness’s of the thoughts of going their separate ways. I hope they don’t have to x
Author's Response: I wanted to give our boys an adventure that they could look back on for the rest of their lives with all the love they are feeling for each other. They will need it to sustain them for a while. Huge hugs, Grammy

I could feel Brian’s panic looking for Justin wondering where he was sent. I loved them meeting again and the sexy banter between them was brilliant.

Omg no, poor Samuels that’s so sad he was about to go home. Poor Justin this is just so horrible. War is never a good thing I hope everything will be ok .
Author's Response: It is not easy to write a chapter like this, but there is a war and this is the reality of it. I'm sorry for the fears, but hold on, all is not lost yet. And let me tell you how much I appreciate all your wonderful comments. They mean the world to me. Huge hugs, Grammy

I’m so sad their time there has come to an end. It was a place of brief scantuary for them both. I hope they get back there someday as a couple.

Author's Response: Aimee is modeled after my Granddaughter, Amy, and she would never be shocked by the love between two men. Their secret is safe with her. Of course, they will have to be more cautious though. This is the 40's. Huge hugs, Grammy

Good on the boys for securing the estate and making the family there feel safe. Brian is getting drawn to Justin which I really like so I hope they talk properly soon. I think the young lady in that house will be disappointed when she learns that Brian is gay.
Loved this chapter 💕
Author's Response: Under Brian's leadership, this squad accomplishes their tasks. And slowly, but surely, Brian is liking what he sees in his newest man. One side note, as you may remember my beloved Granddaughter's name is Amy. I tried very hard to convince her parents to spell her name Aimee instead of just Amy. LOL! Didn't work, but naming my character is in remembrance of that attempt. Huge hugs, Grammy

That must have been a very scary situation to be in. Justin truly did his squad proud by reacting so fast saving his boss the way he did. Lol I loved Brian turning red when the young lady kissed his cheek.
I cant wait to read more x
Author's Response: Being in war often shows what someone is made of, and Justin is obviously made of the best there is. Brian will certainly appreciate having him in the squad as the days go by. Huge hugs, Grammy

Author's Response: Oh, thank you so much for these comments, No Sleep. I wanted to write a story in honor of my wonderful Dad, who served in WWII, and to honor all the soldiers who served but couldn't be open about their true selves. This was such a beautiful and compelling story!
It makes my heart ache to think of all the men and women of the past who were never free to be themselves, or with the one they loved for fear of others' reactions. This was indeed a fiting tribute to all past/current military GLBT men and women!
Author's Response: I am so happy to hear from you about this story, my friend. This is one that means a great deal to me as my Dad has always been my hero and he served his country proudly through two wars. I got a lot of inspiration from some of his stories about WWII...the ones he was willing to share. My Dad always thought it was a load of bull that gay men couldn't serve openly. Thank Heavens my parents both taught me acceptance and the principles of equality. Thank you so much for your very kind words. I appreciate them tremendously. Warmest hugs, Grammy

Wow! I was not expecting that ending. Simply beautiful and memorable. Thank you for this amazing story of love.
Author's Response: I'm sorry for the delay in responding to your truly wonderful comments on this story, JT. I am touched by how kind you have been. This story is not only among my favorites, but it holds a special place in my heart due to the subject matter. I wanted more than anything to do this story full justice in order to honor all those men and women who have served our Country in wartime and peace so faithfully despite the fact that their Country doesn't provide them with all the equal rights that others take for granted. I made sure to research all the dates, places, and events thoroughly with respect for those who sacrificed so much for us. The English details are not from first-hand knowledge, although I wish they were. I have a friend from England who has a clear memory of those days and gave me invaluable info to include in my story.
I'm sorry to say that I was unaware of the dangers of using a tourniquet on a severe wound. I'm guilty of not checking that out before I wrote it and relying instead on all those countless scenes I've viewed in movies and television. LOL! Obviously they take liberties with the truth and I copied it. Thank you for giving me some hints on a subject I know little about and will remember in the future. I am always grateful for a heads up at any time.
Again, let me tell you how much your comments mean to me. The moment I see your name, I know I'm in for a treat, whether it be praise or a helpful clue that I can use in my work. Thank you so very much. Warmest hugs, Grammy
P.S. Almost forgot, you made a comment with one of the chapters that you wish you could write as good as me. My friend, you obviously have nothing to worry about there. I have never seen such an outpouring of love for a writer. Your countless positive reviews and huge readership says it all. Your stories must be engrossing. A cursory look at them has given me the impression that you would make a great screenwriter, as that is the feeling I got from reading what I was able to make time for. I wish I had the imagination of a Stephen King, or Chelsea Quinn Yarbro, or the beloved Patricia Nell Warren. I will content myself knowing that I have entertained some wonderful people as I know you have too, repeatedly for so many.

A tourniquet usually causes the loss of a limb unless it's released very often.
I was a paramedic for 7 years in California on an ambulance and only used one aa a last resort knowing the patient will loss anything below it. Direct pressure on an artery pressure point is the preferred method to control excess bleeding if possible for a foreign object trama. That still allows some blood flow to the limb saving it.
That said; thank God this is fiction!
Justin has to make it.

Author's Response: I am very confused as to how I missed your comments on this story, Bob, and apologize for not responding to it sooner. This story is especially dear to me because it was dedicated to my Dad and the many soldiers who have served our Country while having to hide a basic part of who they are. My Dear Grammy, finally I found the time to read all chapters of this story and I came to the same conclusion as always after reading one of your stories: You are a master of the narrative art. You`re using words to create wonderful paintings. If someone would read the story out loud to me I would sit back close my eyes and let the movie start in my mind. I would get sad fighting with them on the battlefields while missing their families. I would breath a sigh of relief when they can rest some days in France. I could smell the wonderful things Aimee cooked. I could feel their despair about all the uncertainties they had to deal with. I laughed out loud imagining the motorcycle ride through England. I could feel the wind in my hair and smell the salt in the air. It was such a happy time-out. And I felt warm inside watching a tender bud which had to blossom in obscurity become a beautiful proud rose with strong thick roots able to withstand every storm. And I felt calm because I could always feel the most important thing in the world. Something you need as much as air to breath. Without it life is not possible without it your dead: HOPE! Thanks for taking me an that exciting journey with you. Big big Hugs, Sunny
Author's Response: My dear Sunny, You have no idea how much I've looked forward to your opinion on this story. You, my dear, are pretty darned good with words yourself. I could see that the story moved you and that is exactly what a writer wants to know. I see these images in my head and I want others to see them as clearly as I do. It is a thrill when you know that they do. This story, because it is dedicated to my darling Father, is special to me so I am doubly pleased that you enjoyed it so much. I hope I will be able to continue to give you enjoyment with future stories. Btw, you are so right about 'hope'. It is the credo that I have lived my entire life by and it has gotten me through many dark times in my 60 years. With that on your side, everything is possible. That is why I always write my Brian and Justin as having hope that things will work out. I can't have it any other way. Once again, let me thank you for your wonderful words. They truly mean the world to me. Much love, Grammy

I realize it isn't unusual to love this story, in fact to love all your stories but this on eis especialy close to my heart as it is about my homeland. Your Brian and Justin are more mature than many because of the war and although war can never ever be justified I have always felt that one should make the suffering pay. Brian seems to be going to do just that. Love Jacky M
Author's Response: My dear Jacky, you have no idea how touched I am by your comment. When I'm writing about a place I've never even seen, except in my dreams, it is ultra important to me that I am faithful to that time and place. To hear you, an Englander, say that this story feels right to you has meant more than the world to me. Thank you so very much. War always brings out the best and worst in people as human beings. In this case, it is bringing out the best in our lovers. The story still has a number of chapters to go but the ending has already written itself in my mind and I hope you will approve. i didn't want this chapter to end. so many decisions to make once they get back home, i think this little break is well deserved. relish in each other now for who knows what will happen in the future.
Author's Response: I think our lovers are going to try and make as many memories as possible as their month goes on. Stay tuned Sherrie for the further adventures for our brave soldiers. Hugs, Grammy

Hey Grammy, you know one of the worst feelings ever? Uncertainty. The feeling of "Not Knowing" .It may be annoying in your day to day life but in times of war it has the power to destroy. You not only have to cope with your fears, your pain , your loss in many ways - no, you have also to process the feeling of all-embracing helplessness and powerlessness. Where is he? How is he? Is he cared for? Will I see him again? When will I see him again? Is he safe? Does he miss me as much as I miss him? You ask yourself day in day out the same unanswered useless questions. I guess Brian and Justin are lucky, they found eachother after a short time. And the hospital-reunion scene was kinda....HOT! What will they do when they got the chance not only to watch but also to TOUCH! Hugs, Sunny
Author's Response: My dear Sunny, you have such a wonderful grasp of what it is like to deal with the world when it is unfamiliar ground you're walking on. That is what war does...it makes everything you know change to something different, including how you feel about the people in your life. Losing your life is not the only scary thing about war. I can't tell you how thrilled I am to have a reader of this story who understands what it is all about. Thank you so much for all your comments. I'm also glad you enjoyed that hospital scene. I had a ball picturing it in my mind as I was writing it. Hee hee! Check out the next chapter because 'touching' is definitely on order. Hugs, Grammy

justin is so bad. doing that to poor brian. have to chuckle about that. i certainly hope brian's wish comes true. cowlip seems to be an ok guy. i like the way he thinks.
Author's Response: Aww, you know I loved writing that scene in the hospital. I'm glad you enjoyed the visual too, Sherrie. I'm not sure what will happen in the future but I do know that the boys have an interesting day ahead of them in the next chapter. Stay tuned, and thanks for your comments. Grammy

I have to let you know I have been thoroughly enjoying your stories but I haven't been able to review because I have problems putting in the security code. But as usual good job.
Author's Response: I am so sorry that the site is giving you problems but I am very grateful to you for your efforts in letting me know that you enjoy my stories. I hope I will be able to continue to entertain you in the future. Many thanks for your comments. Grammy

Hi, Gramms. Another intensed love story of our fave couple, Brian and Justin!!!! Thanks
Author's Response: With Brian and Justin, no matter what time or place, how can their love be anything but intense? LOL! It is my pleasure to write these for you guys. Thank you for taking the time to comment. I appreciate it very much. Hugs, Grammy

Beautiful. It would be great if they were sent home together. Love the hot scene in the hospital.
Author's Response: Thank you so much Lorie. The scene in the hospital was inspired by a truly painful WWII movie called Bent when two POW's made love without even touching each other. The scene has never left my mind and the poignancy of it seemed to fit our lovers, who could not openly declare their love because of the time and place. I'm so glad you liked that part. It remains to be seen if the boys can go home at the same time. Stay tuned. Grammy

am enjoying this a lot-captures the realities and surprises of war-and life of course very well. opdate soon please. thanx
Author's Response: Thank you so much for your comments Carbon69. My goal was to make this all important chapter as realistic and believable as possible. Your words are very encouraging. I appreciate it a lot. An update is in the works. Grammy

Whew! I am glad you warned us at the beginning of the chapter. Very powerful writing. I could feel my heart breaking. Somehow I have a feeling that this Cowlip character is a bad guy and will cause trouble to B&J (Interesting that you picked Cowlip as the character name). But you will let B&J have a happy ending, right?
Author's Response: Thank you so much for your comments Templeton_Ma. I knew this was not going to be a pleasant chapter (this is war after all) so I felt I had to give a heads up. I don't want you to stress about Private Cowlip. I threw that name in as a homage to the wonderful men who created our beloved characters. Even though we didn't like their ending, especially the romantics like myself, we owe them big time just for getting QAF on the air at all. I'll always love them for that. And would I ever destroy the love between Brian and Justin.....I think not!?!!! Keep an eye for the update. Big hugs, Grammy

Author's Response: Thank you so very much for your comments Sm0kr420. I'm very glad you are enjoying the story. I try to keep all my WIP's updated on a regular basis so the next chapter isn't far off. I'm especially grateful to you for your comment about my beloved Dad. Hey Grammy, I guess love and war don´t fit very well but on the other hand a love which survives a war and all what comes along like fears, loneliness, pain, despair, hurt, hunger....is able to survive everything! That`s a lesson I learned from my grandparents who lived in Germany during the 2nd World War. Hugs, Sunny
Author's Response: You are so very right Sunny. I have read and watched countless stories of love that thrived and survived during this war and of course the same thing has happened in all the other wars too. There is something so immediate and compelling about facing the fears of war together that brings people closer. I call it survival instinct. I am so glad your Grandparents survived the war, especially the hardships that Germany went through towards the end and after the war was finally over. Thank you so much for your comments. Hugs, Grammy

heaven over, back to hell. great chapter grammy.

i'm so glad that i can finally review. brian is getting sloppy. he's lucky that it was aimee and not one of the men. i'm thrilled that they are together right now but what happens when they leave the farm house? brian better get his libido under control before something dangerous puts them both in jeapordy.
Author's Response: I agree with you 100% Sherrie, and so does Brian. The last paragraph of this chapter tells it all. It was a close call that put the fear of you know what into our boy and he will definitely be more cautious in the future. I can't say what comes next. You know that nothing is certain in war, but at least they now know there is someone who cares about them deeply standing nearby. I'm thrilled that the reviews are showing up again too. They always bring a smile to my face. Big hugs, Grammy

thankfully justin can keep his head in such situations. brian is hooked so deeply as is justin
Author's Response: What makes Brian and Justin such a perfect pair...among other things...is that one is always able to stay grounded when the other is falling apart. They compliment each other so beautifully. For them, the saying of one heart, one soul is the absolute truth. Well, at least that is so for MY Brian and Justin. Thanks for your comments Sherrie. I always appreciate them. Big hugs, Grammy

Wow, that was close...I'm looking forward to the end of the war! Is Brian or Justin going to get hurt..that would suck.
Author's Response: Thank you so much for commenting Kaylee. The boys did have a narrow escape this time, but it has made Brian even more cautious for the future. I can't say whether one or the other will get hurt because in all honesty I'm not sure yet, but I can promise you that this story will end the way all my stories do. I would rather quit writing than tear our boys apart forever. Okay, I confess...I'm a hopeless romantic. LOL! Stay tuned for further adventures on the edge for our lovers. Hugs, Grammy

Aimee's story about her young friend is so sad, but it was so true of the times. If only more people saw things her way. At least Brian and Justin can really trust her. Another wonderful chapter! Love protective Brian ;) Thanks!! P.S.- You're not alone in your review issues- I somehow managed to end up with a negative number of reviews for the last update of my story. Hmm... ;)
Author's Response: I'm so glad your review came through Sapphire. I was so scared to try posting this new chapter. I was sure something would go wrong. Thank heavens it didn't cause I hate the thought of not keeping my promise to keep my stories updated as often as possible. It is not fair to loyal readers. You are the fourth person who has mentioned having some problems on MW. Hopefully it is simply some bugs that can be easily exterminated. A day without MW is a day without Sunshine for a lot of us. Btw, I agree with you on the story of the English lad. I know that homosexuality was illegal in England during this time and very common for those caught to be imprisoned. I knew that it would be really hard on a very young man. I'm glad you like a protective Brian cause he will have lots of cause to be so in the future chapters. Thanks again for your wonderful review. Hugs, Grammy

Hey Grammy, ...breathtaking as always. You really are able to put emotions into words. Their first love making was so sweet and loving and I can fully understand Brians need to see Justin in the morning. He is exited about falling in love and at the same time aware of the danger for both of them. A Brian in protective mode will always be my favourite. Bytheway I often have problems to post a review. Security thinks I´m not able to read 5 numbers correctly... Hugs, Sunny
Author's Response: Hey Sunny. Well my dear, I've already sent you an email in answer to your wonderful comments that you mailed me but I think you deserve a second thank you for going to the trouble of figuring out how to post your comment here despite the problems. I am truly grateful to you. Btw, you will be seeing an even more protective Brian in future chapters of this story as things get even more scary. Stay tuned. Grammy

I really like this story. I hope things turn out okay for them in the end...maybe Aimee would like another soldier?! hee hee
Author's Response: Thank you so much for commenting. If you have read anything else of mine you'll know that I am incapable of keeping our boys apart forever. So don't worry on that score, my friend. And don't worry about Aimee. With a heart as beautiful as hers I doubt she'll be alone for long. Grammy

I keep wondering, how some gay soliders handle in real situations when they feel attracted to each other. Would it be just like how you describe it? Or even for the hetero soliders if they need release because of the extreme pressure of the war. What do they do? Exercise? Read? Write letters? Hard to imagine what's on the soliders' mind when death is around constantly and life seems to unreal.
Author's Response: Of course these situations truly happened all the time during WWII and every single war that man has ever fought. I imagine there are countless stories of how gay soldiers survived. I imagine my version actually happened in one form or another at different times. There is something to be said about chemistry and when two men feel it for each other, it just takes one catalyst to bring them together...sometimes for one time, sometimes for a lifetime. I'm glad to know that you are enjoying my story and thank you so much for your comments Templeton_Ma. They are very thoughtful. Grammy

very hot, poor justin breaking the towel rack but look what he got out of it lol it was worth it
Author's Response: Yep, sometimes what looks like an unfortunate incident can prove to be a blessing in disguise. Now he'll just have to apologize to Aimee for the damage he's done, not to mention stealing away her chances (not that she ever had any) with Brian. Thanks for your comments Sara. I appreciate them very much. Grammy

Yay! Finally our boys get some 'alone (very hot) time'! I guess now they might carry out a secret love affair?? (Yes, I am a hopeless romantic ;). I love this story. Thanks!
Author's Response: Don't feel alone Sapphire. I'm an incurable hopeless romantic and have been for over 50 years...and I'm darned proud of it. My stories probably gave you a clue to that fact. LOL! Of course, this being the era it is the affair will have to be secret, but love cannot be stopped. Hope you continue to enjoy where the story leads us. Thanks so much for your comments. Hugs, Grammy

Author's Response: I'm very glad you enjoyed the chapter Lorie. I'll do my best to keep our boys safe, but there is a war going on and nothing is sacred in times like that. But you know I can never tear our boys apart forever. It just isn't in the stars. LOL! Please don't worry too much. Hugs, Grammy

hot very hot. "Aimee concealed her disappointment She had been hoping to come up with some excuse either that evening or in the morning to spend a bit of one on one time with the handsome Sergeant." as if she'd stand a chance. "Their talk had confirmed one thing for certain. There would be more nights like this whenever or wherever it was safe to do so." how they fit it in with the other men around will be difficult, but worth it i'm sure.
Author's Response: I'm so glad you enjoyed the heat Sherrie. My heart goes out to poor Aimee. She's like all us girls...sitting on the outside wishing we were Justin. LOL! Don't worry about our boys. You know how inventive they can be. Thanks for your comments. They are always appreciated. Hugs from Grammy

Hey Grammy, thank you so much for another chapter. I hope you are doing fine and enjoy writing as much as I enjoy reading your stories. Have a nice dy. Hugs, Sunny
Author's Response: Thank you so much, Sunny, for your very kind comment. Believe me, I love writing these stories for you guys more than I can say. I literally had become bored with life since being forced into early retirement by poor health. My Grandchildren were the only joy I had until QAF. That show brought me so much fun and enjoyment and when it ended, the fan sites brought equal pleasure. Starting to write myself was the cherry on top of the Sundae of life for me. Glad that someone in LJ pointed out how to get into this site via most recent link. I missed reading your fic. So, the story is really starting to heat up, huh? Can't wait for more :-)
Author's Response: I can't thank you enough for your review templeton_ma. It really cheered me up since I am now on my Daughter's borrowed computer because my monitor died on me today. I had two different chapters all but ready to post on two stories and I can't get to them where I had them stored in my file until I get a new monitor, which is not financially possible at this moment. amiee is falling for brian. justin has hopes for himself and brain, and brian," he would have to make damned sure his instincts had been right about Private Taylor. A wrong move there could spell the end of Sergeant Kinney once and for all." this should be fun.
Author's Response: Oh yes, our Sarge is not one to do anything stupid. But I have a feeling he'll think of a really good way to test Private Taylors predilections. Come back for the test. Thank you so much for your comments Sherrie. I always appreciate them. Hugs from Grammy

Author's Response: I really appreciate knowing you are reading the story and liking it Ashley. I welcome any comments when you have the time to give them, but I completely understand how busy things can get. As for Justin, I put down his natural talent with the rifle to his skilled artistic eye that is innately trained to see things others miss and the sensitivity of his artistic fingers to be able to feel the right movement of the trigger. Well, at least that's my crazy theory. LOL! Grammy
